Services Offered The new Rapid Access Clinic Designed to Increase Accessibility of Skin Cancer Screenings We started the Rapid Access Clinic in July. This clinic is accepting patients with suspicious skin lesions, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, suspicious moles, and melanoma, within 72 hours of referral to our center. All referred patients will be evaluated with a directed skin exam, and if appropriate, the lesion will be biopsied at that time. Laser & Dermatologic Surgery Center offers accessibility to Mohs micrographic surgery for nonmelanoma skin cancers, and surgical excision with complete margin examination for melanomas and atypical nevi. Early detection of skin cancer is vital, and our two board-certified skin cancer specialists are ready to help. The VISIA™ imaging system uses multi-spectral imaging and analysis to capture key visual data on six areas affecting skin appearance: wrinkles, spots, pores, evenness (variation of skin color), porphyrins (from bacteria in pores), and UV spots (characteristic of sun damage). Once VISIA™ has analyzed your skin, it generates a wealth of information, including comparisons of your own skin to people of the same sex, age and skin type. This comprehensive information gives us the tools to plan a treatment program and customize a skin care regimen based on your unique complexion profile. Digital imaging is an easy and painless process. After cleansing the skin, you are seated in front of the VISIA™ image booth. A digital image is recorded under natural as well as ultra-violet light. The image is then analyzed using an advanced computer program first developed as a skin care research tool. Each session takes about 15 minutes. A printed report, which you can take home, provides details of your imaging session and recommended rejuvenation and skin care.
