Do this for Beautiful, Healthy Skin

Healthy SkinYou may consistently hunt for the latest and greatest products to use on your skin. There’s nothing wrong with a little TLC. However, a lot of what your skin needs to look and feel great comes from what you do on a regular basis outside of your skin care routine. Let’s take a look.

1.Feed it from the inside out. Skin thrives on optimal nutrition, and that doesn’t come from a tube. In fact, it may just come from your glass! Water is one of the primary components of smooth, clear, youthful looking skin. The great thing about feeding your skin with water (drink half of your body weight daily) is that this habit also benefits the rest of the body, which is primarily water. What’s on your plate can also feed your skin. Healthy omega-3 fatty acids lower inflammation, which aids in preventing or treating acne and other chronic skin conditions.

2.Treat it with loving kindness. Washing, moisturizing, and exfoliating are necessary steps in promoting skin health. However, going too far with the exfoliation process could backfire. Instead of scrubbing dead cells of the surface of your skin, use an exfoliating product such as a vitamin C serum or alpha hydroxyl acid. In fact, go one step further and visit your St. Louis dermatologist for a professional chemical peel!

3.Protect it. We’re not going to talk about the value of a good sunscreen in this post, though that’s always a good topic of discussion. What we want to touch on is the number of times you touch your Smartphone device each day. Studies have shown inordinate amounts of bacteria reside on these screens, which then touch your face in the event you actually use your phone for something more than texting and social media.
