Scars are often left behind on the skin due to the inflammation of acne. Scars show themselves as either darker pigmentation on the skin, or raised scars caused by too much collagen production in efforts to heal the wound. Scars caused by acne can be quite bothersome to a patient. However, at Laser & Dermatologic Surgery Center, we offer several types of treatments to treat and remove common skin scars caused by acne.
Fraxel Laser treatment removes damaged skin cells caused by Acne. It works with your body’s natural healing process to leave your skin healthy and glowing.
E-Matrix Sublative Rejuvenation®
Sublative Rejuvenation works to clear spots and promote collagen production in your skin. The Fractional Bipolar Radio Frequency it uses will make your skin look smooth and clear.
Smoothbeam® is a laser treatment that treats current acne as well as acne scars. It promotes collagen formation in your skin to give you clear, glowing skin.
CO2RE Laser Fractionated Resurfacing™
Your acne scars will literally evaporate with the high water content used in this CO2 laser treatment. Your enhanced collagen production will promote the healthy look of your skin.
Filler injections can treat your acne scars by evening out your skin’s texture. Once injected into the skin, the appearance of fine lines and scars will be gone.
Subcision is used to treat deep scars left by acne. It separates the skin tissue from the deeper scar tissue so your skin can level out and appear smooth.
Scar revision minimizes the scars left from acne. It enhances your skin’s tone and texture.
Acne is caused by overproduction of oil (sebum) in the sebaceous gland and the trapping of dead cells within hair follicles. This can trap bacteria normally found on the skin inside the follicle, which then leads to inflammation. Outbreaks range in severity from superficial, as with non-inflammatory whiteheads and blackheads, to deep, cystic lesions.
Some people may be more prone to breakouts than others. This is due to a combination of genetics, hormones, stress, exercise, and other environmental factors.
Schedule AppointmentAcne lesions consist of blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, cysts, and nodules. The type of outbreak you experience will depend on a variety of factors. Any number of these lesions can appear all over the body, but the most common locations are the face, chest, and back. They may also appear on the neck, shoulders, upper arms, scalp, and buttocks.
